Under the sea

Ministers of the Maldive Islands will hold a cabinet meeting under water on October 17th to demonstrate the threat that rising sea levels pose to their country. The cabinet is taking scuba lessons in preparation for the meeting, and will communicate with whiteboards and hand signals. The ministers will sign a resolution calling for global cuts in carbon emissions during the underwater meeting.
The dive, being undertaken by the president and every cabinet member save one (who is sitting out the meeting because of a medical condition), demonstrates the dangers of global climate change in one of the most vulnerable spots on earth and shows us what the future will be like if we don't take action now.
